Commissioning a Portrait

Commissioning a portrait might feel a little daunting but is actually a straightforward and rewarding process.

Portraits usually begin with an exchange of emails to get a feel for what the client is looking for, the time lines involved and to give approximate pricing. After this, if practical, we meet up and discuss the portrait before organising a photo-shoot of the subject which can usually be achieved in one or two sittings and takes a couple of hours or so. Prior to the photo-shoot I ask for a 30% deposit of the expected final fee. I then make and send the portrait design to the client to get the final go-ahead. If desired I can send images of the work in progress. On completion I can advise on framing and will have the work delivered.
